St. Anthony
of Egypt is usually shown next to a pig because the devil appeared to him in
that form and he has therefore become protector of animals: every January 17
was celebrated here the blessing of the animals but, due to the heavy
traffic in Via Carlo Alberto, it now takes place in front of the nearby church
of S. Eusebio
