Gaspare dei Conti di Carpegna who had bought the land the year before
In the
nineteenth century it belonged to the Falconieri family who refurbished the
villa
In 1902 it
passed to Baroness Caterina Von Scheyns
Since 1978
it belongs to the City of Rome, which also acquired the about 7 hectares (17
acres) public park
It is home
to the Quadriennale di Roma (Quadrennial
of Rome), an institution of contemporary art of the twentieth century including
an archive and a library
