Housed in a
1903 building formerly barracks of the second regiment of the Grenadiers of
Sardinia
The museum
was established in 1948 but it was open to the public only in 1959
In 1990 it
was renovated and divided into three areas (weapons, flags and uniforms) with THIRTY-FIVE
ROOMS, FIVE GALLERIES, a LIBRARY and a HISTORICAL ARCHIVE
The
exhibition includes firearms from the eighteenth century to the present day,
halberds, crossbows, armor and edged weapons, as well as models of battles as
those of Zama and Waterloo, sketches and original documents relating to
colonial wars and the two world wars
