1860 Filippo Martinucci (?/1862) for Pius IX (1846/78) on
the area of the destroyed Capuchin convent attached to the church of S. Croce e S. Bonaventura dei Lucchesi
It was
dedicated to St. Felix of Cantalice since the saint had lived in the convent
It now
houses offices of the Presidency of the Republic
In the
COURTYARD:
Structures
belonging to the Upper Church of S.
Nicola de Portiis
It is
described as upper because it was built at the end of the fourteenth
century above the older church of the twelfth or thirteenth century
TOMB OF SEMPRONII
On one side
of the courtyard. It dates back to the half of the first century BC. Tomb with
façade in travertine blocks placed on a high plinth now underground
CELLA in
bricks, one of the oldest examples of this technique
The
inscription attributes it to one Gneus Sempronius, his sister and his mother
