1913/16 Guglielmo Palombi for Pius X Sarto (1903/14) to celebrate the sixteenth anniversary of the EDICT OF MILAN in the year 313 AD with which Constantine (306/337) would have legalized Christianity

Recent studies have demonstrated with convincing evidence that in fact Christianity had been legalized two years before, in the year 311 by Galerius (305/311)

The so-called “edict” of the year 313 would actually be simply a letter written by Constantine to his co-emperor Licinius (306/324) to confirm the Edict of Galerius

The exterior of the church appears in the 1945 film directed by Roberto Rossellini Roma città aperta (Rome Open City). In the fiction it is the parish of Don Pietro played by Aldo Fabrizi

The interior of the church in the movie is that of S. Maria dell'Orto in Trastevere instead

Domed building with articulated and complex plan, maybe dating back to the fourth century AD

The dimensions are 30 x 25 m (98 x 82 feet) to a height of 9 m (30 feet)

The original function is unknown

The location at the edge of the ancient Via Labicana would suggest a burial function but the complexity of the building leads to doubt it

It may have had commercial functions or it may have been a nympheum (fountain) although there is no trace of hydraulic pipes

"A specific feature of the poetry of Pietro Aschieri is, at the end of the twenties, his interest in the value of the 'mass' on which he focuses, thoroughly investigating the possible plastic effects. This is the theme present especially in the Pantanella Pasta Factory in which the 'weight' of the building shell, already evident from the type of finish is accentuated by the deep incisions of the openings, by the inclination of the entrance portal and by the insertion of very light glass surfaces. To this overall effect contributes also the shelter corner that seems to bring out, with its projections, the fullness of the building" (Piero Ostilio Rossi)

BISCOTTIFICIO (Biscuits factory) 1954 and OFFICES BUILDING 1960 Silvano Ricci

The structure was redeveloped in the years 1996/2003 by Bruno Moauro and occupied by apartments, shops and a Bingo Palace
