GIORGINA VILLA

VILLA GIORGINA

Via Po 27

1920 Clemente Busiri Vici (1887/1965) for Senator Isaia Levi who had originally called it VILLA LEVI

After the death of his young daughter Giorgina, he decided to change the name of the villa in honour of his daughter

During the Nazi occupation the senator, who was jewish, was hidden by the Sisters of Maria Bambina in the house they used to run alongside the Patristic Augustinianum Institute, right next to the colonnade of St. Peter's Square

The senator gave the villa to Pope Pius XII Pacelli (1939/58) as a sign of gratitude. Since 1959 it is the Apostolic Nunciature in Italy, with functions of Vatican embassy in Italy
