HOTEL OF THE BEAR

ALBERGO DELL'ORSO
Small palace of the fifteenth century
FAƇADE with balconies and porches restored in the years 1935/37 with ancient columns
The hotel opened maybe in late fifteenth century
The name (The Hotel of the Bear) probably derives from a fragment of a sarcophagus with a lion, mistaken for a bear, slaughtering a wild boar on the corner of Via dei Soldati, or perhaps from the name of the first owner, a man called Baccio Dell'Orso (Baccio of the Bear)
