Built to celebrate the sixteenth centenary of the Edict of Constantine in 313
The site was chosen because, according to tradition, it was here that Constantine sounded the trumpets to announce the end of persecution for Christians
In the cornice of the façade mosaic "Triumph of the Cross", "Edict of Milan" and "Victory of Constantine at the Milvian Bridge" by Biagio Biagetti (1877/1948)
