Maybe the
name comes from a wrong interpretation of the words que appella in an
old inscription
BELL TOWER
of the twelfth century
It was
restored in the late 1700s and then there was a radical restoration in the
years 1880/92 by Andrea Busiri Vici (1818/1911)
who rebuilt the façade and restored the aisles

Attached
to the church, founded in 1391, rebuilt in the years 1857/75 by Andrea Busiri Vici
