Restored in
1775 after a fire in 1772 destroyed the interior of the church
The urban
setting of the church was completely altered after the demolitions for the
construction of Via IV Novembre began in 1875. Originally the church was on a
larger square and the buildings surrounding it were lower
1750 Michelangelo Specchi (active in Rome about 1684/after
1750)
“At the
center of the façade there is a window surmounted by a broken pediment with
scrolls onto which there is a garland plant, according to a late Baroque taste,
even if it is set in an already Neoclassical style, as it was typical of
Specchi” (Olga Melasecchi)
