1576/77 project designed by Giacomo della Porta (1533/1602) and executed by Rocco De Rossi
It was modified with a new smaller upper basin in 1830 by Achille Stocchi (?/after 1870) who also added the shells and the dolphins instead of the four pyramids that decorated the original fountain
